Zurich is accepting applications for our 2027 Market Facing Underwriting Training Program in our Philadelphia, Pennsylvania  office.
 

If you thrive on building relationships and bring an analytics mindset, Zurich's Underwriting Training Program offers a unique opportunity to combine both strengths in one of insurance's most critical roles. Through hands-on training and expert guidance, you'll develop the skills to assess complex risks for large and multinational organizations. You'll learn how to negotiate coverage, evaluate exposures, and determine pricing and terms - while building expertise, confidence, and long-term value as an underwriter.

The Role

• Structured, cohort-based onboarding combining virtual learning, in-person sessions, and networking to build foundational underwriting knowledge and strong peer connections
• Firsthand development with job shadowing, mentorship, and real-time coaching
• Exposure to live underwriting work, including analyzing financials, evaluating risk, and supporting pricing and coverage decisions
• Transition into a market-facing underwriter role, managing broker relationships and underwriting accounts day-to-day with increasing independence

Required Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in a business-related field and on track to graduate by Spring/Summer 2027
• Strong analytical and intercommunication skills
• Ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities, often under tight deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous internship in underwriting or the insurance industry is a plus!
• Aptitude for automation and process improvement
• Strong organizational and negotiation skills
• Intermediate Microsoft Office experience

Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. The salary for this position is $76,700, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 5%.
